Canva Unveils AI Model for Design

Canva introduces world's first design-oriented AI model and new solutions.

The online platform Canva has introduced the “world’s first” design-oriented AI model along with a series of new solutions based on it.

The company has updated its video editor to make it user-friendly for those without editing experience. A new template library and simplified timeline for trimming, syncing, and layering have been integrated.

A Forms tool has also been added for collecting feedback, similar to Google Forms. It allows data to be entered directly into Canva and automatically imported into Canva Sheets.

The new platform Canva Grow has been introduced, enabling the development and launch of advertising campaigns and tracking their effectiveness with AI.

The new product Email Design allows marketing teams to create and export branded email campaigns without programming or switching to specialized platforms like Mailchimp.

All new features are based on an AI model “trained to understand the complexity of design.” Most AI-based solutions are deeply integrated into every stage of the design process and are available via a premium subscription.

Speed Through AI

Earlier in April, Canva released a new suite of tools, Visual Suite 2.0.

Among the main innovations was Canva Code—a virtual assistant that allows the creation of interactive widgets, documents, website elements, and mini-applications.

“We have increased the pace to two major product events a year. With a relatively unchanged staff, we have become much more efficient,” noted Chief Operating Officer Cliff Obrecht.

He explained the productivity growth through the application of artificial intelligence in their operations.

Canva is betting on AI tools to accelerate revenue growth ahead of its stock market debut. Recently, the company appointed former Zoom CFO Kelly Steckelberg as its CFO.

Obrecht noted that the company intends to go public within the next two years, although the exact date has not yet been determined.

Back in October, OpenAI introduced a new feature allowing the creation of applications directly within ChatGPT. This enables users to interact with Canva and other services within the chatbot.
