Anthropic Unveils Advanced AI Model Claude 3.5 Sonnet

Anthropic has introduced Claude 3.5 Sonnet, an AI model that “outperforms competitors and Claude 3 Opus across a wide range of tests.”

Claude 3.5 Sonnet is the first in Anthropic’s new Claude 3.5 family. According to the company, it features:

“Claude 3.5 Sonnet operates twice as fast as Claude 3 Opus. This performance boost, combined with cost-effectiveness, makes Claude 3.5 Sonnet an ideal solution for complex tasks such as context-dependent customer support and organizing multi-step workflows,” the company blog states.

Anthropic also announced “Artifacts”—a technology that allows users to request a chatbot to generate a text document, code snippet, or website design and open the result in a special window.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet can be downloaded for free from the company’s website or the App Store on iPhone. Subscribers to Claude Pro and Team have access to higher speed limits.

Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, Anthropic’s chatbot has gained significant popularity alongside OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. Over the past year, the startup has secured five different funding deals totaling $7.3 billion.

In March, Amazon announced new investments of $2.75 billion in Anthropic, bringing its total investment to $4 billion.

In the same month, the AI startup unveiled the Claude 3 model family.

Back in January, the FTC launched an investigation into Amazon, Microsoft, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Alphabet regarding “investments and partnerships” in the field of generative artificial intelligence.
