The digital footwear collection was released in partnership with Space Runners studio and includes five different designs.
Each pair of Unicorns costs from $1,595 to $2,095. NFTs are available on the brand’s site for Ethereum or fiat currency.
“As physical and digital spaces continue to converge, Balmain is exploring new ways to foster a very active, diverse, and global brand army,” said Balmain’s marketing director Тксампи Диз.
In addition to the limited sneaker, NFT holders will receive early access to future drops and other exclusive products, including digital items for online games and metaverses.
Space Runners’ creative director Rohan Chhabra believes digital clothing will become the dominant class in haute fashion.
“The metaverse, like NFT, has become a dirty word. But we need to attract Web 2.0 and Web 2.5 users — our largest customer base — into this space,” he added.
In late 2021 Adidas sold NFT in collaboration with Bored Ape Yacht Club for $23.5 million.
Later, the fashion house Prada announced the Timecapsule NFT collection in addition to shirts as part of a collaboration with Cassius Herst.
Gucci and Balenciaga have added cryptocurrency payments in their flagship stores and on their online platforms.
