Beeple’s Trump NFT Crossroad resold for $6.6 million

Beeple’s Trump NFT Crossroad resold for $6.6 million

The digital artwork “Crossroad” by Mike Winkelmann, known as Beeple, was resold for a record $6.6 million. The non-fungible token (NFT) depicts the former U.S. president Donald Trump, who lost the election.

In December 2020 the artist sold “Crossroad” for $582,000 on the digital-art platform Nifty Gateway.

Under Beeple’s idea, “Crossroad” was supposed to change depending on the results of the U.S. presidential election. After Biden’s victory, it depicts Trump lying in a pile of garbage.

In the event of a Republican victory, the NFT would have changed to a crowned sports Trump, stomping through the flames.

In January 2021 the collectibles developer Topps Digital introduced 18 NFT cards featuring Senator Bernie Sanders wearing mittens.

In early February, actress Lindsay Lohan sold the Lightning non-fungible token on a Rarible auction for $70,000. The popular meme GIF Nyan Cat was sold at the auction Foundation for 300 ETH.

Back in February, Christie’s became the first to auction Beeple’s NFT — Everydays: The First 5000 Days.
