Cherepovets police shut down illegal casinos posing as bitcoin exchanges

Two natives of Yaroslavl, who organized in Cherepovets a network of gambling establishments disguised as venues for trading cryptocurrency, have been detained by law enforcement. The Investigative Committee of the Vologda region reports.

According to investigators, since December 2017 the suspects opened five illegal clubs in the city.

During the arrest of the business head, police found 6 million rubles in various currencies.

In the network of clubs, law enforcement seized 97 units of equipment and gaming machines.

A criminal case has been opened into the illegal organization and conduct of gambling.

The police arrested the head of the casino network and issued an appearance obligation to her accomplice. Investigators are establishing the identities of other members of the criminal group. The investigation continues.

Earlier ForkLog reported that a “cryptocurrency exchange” Walcoin, which for almost two years carried out gambling activities in Naberezhnye Chelny under the guise of cloud mining salons, closed due to lack of customers.
