Dagestan reports another major electricity theft for mining.

Rosseti North Caucasus thwarted a large-scale electricity theft for cryptocurrency mining in Makhachkala.

According to the пресс-служба «Россетей», equipment for mining cryptocurrencies was located on the attic of a multi-apartment building. The damage amounted to more than 332,000 rubles.

The information about the theft has been reported to law enforcement authorities.

Dagestan remains the leader among the regions of Russia in the number of identified cases of illegal electricity consumption by miners.

Since the beginning of 2021, Rosseti has detected six cases of unaccounted electricity consumption for cryptocurrency mining. All of them were identified in Dagestan.

In 2019-2020, the damage from illegal mining for Rosseti North Caucasus amounted to 230 million rubles.
