DemHack hackathon dedicated to internet freedom opens applications

From September 29 to October 1, the seventh online DemHack hackathon will be held, organized by the Roskomsvoboda and Privacy Accelerator projects. This is announced on the organisers’ site.

“Censors are trying to close off access to information as much as possible, to shield people from any viewpoint other than the official one, and to cut off all channels through which reliable information can be obtained. For people, this becomes a daily challenge, as they must not only think about how and where to access information, but also how to do so safely,” say the representatives of DemHack.

In 2023, the key theme of the hackathon will be privacy and security on the internet. Potential participants are invited to tackle the following tasks:

• creating convenient OS solutions for the smart home without data access by corporations;
• development of tools to verify texts for accuracy, bias, and manipulation;
• countering bots and engagement manipulation;
• VPN access in regions of the Russian Federation;
• design of a site about political prisoners.

To participate, you must fill out the form. Registration is open until September 18 inclusive.

In late October, in Dubai will take place the Blockchain Life 2023 international forum. The event will bring together 7,000 participants, including the founder of TRON, Justin Sun, the General Manager of Binance Dubai, Alexander Chehade, the co-founder of the Litecoin Foundation, Xinxi Wan, the former vice president of JPMorgan Chase, Ton Veis, and others.
