Ethereum network records second disruption to transaction finalisation

In the Ethereum blockchain, for the second time in the past 24 hours an unknown error occurred, during which transactions could not finalise for a period.

According to data from Beaconcha.in, over the epoch range 200,751 to 200,758 there was a sharp drop in confirmed operations — down to 30%.

As of writing, finalisation in the Ethereum network has been restored. Transactions did not stall.

The Prysm Ethereum client developers released a hotfix. It includes an optimisation to prevent high resource usage by the node during periods of turbulence.

We are announcing v4.0.3-hotfix. This release contains the optimization to prevent the beacon node from high resource usage during turbulent times. It is highly recommended to upgrade if your node is under heavy usage.

A new Prysm client update is planned for the start of next week. The developers clarified that changes will be tested over the weekend.

Earlier, on May 11, in the Ethereum network a similar error occurred during epochs 200,552 to 200,554.
