German intelligence agency launches its own NFT collection

The Federal Intelligence Service of Germany (BND) has launched a series NFT titled Dogs of BND on the marketplace OpenSea as part of a campaign to recruit cryptocurrency and blockchain experts to the agency.

The main theme of the NFT collection is German Shepherd dogs.

The BND press secretary Isabel Kalbitzer told Decrypt that “all 987 available non-fungible tokens found new owners by June 21.” The collection was released on June 5.

To obtain the token, the agency offered a kind of blockchain test with the decoding of a series of symbols related to Ethereum. The initiative was launched on the service’s Instagram profile, which is geared toward recruitment for the BND.

“Through the blockchain test and the NFT collection we aimed, in a playful way, to highlight that the BND is an exceptional employer, also active in the areas of its remit,” said Kalbitzer.

In June, bitcoin enthusiasts bought the non-fungible token CryptoPunk #8611 for 54.5 ETH (~$94,000 at the time of the deal) and sent it to the burn address.

In April, sportswear maker Puma announced an NFT sneaker collection in collaboration with digital artist Wagmi-san and the store 10KTF.
