In Kazan, the Finiko pyramid’s vice-president was detained

The Kazan police detained one of the participants in the Finiko financial pyramid, Ilgiz Shakirov, who had obtained the status of vice-president of the company. He is being treated as a suspect in a case of fraud and embezzlement.

According to investigators, the detainee was the founder’s personal assistant, Kirill Doronin.

“Through the company’s website, he carried out activities to accept cryptocurrency from citizens and urged them to invest funds in a dubious scheme,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Shakirov’s role is corroborated by witness and victim testimony, seized documents, and video materials of online appearances, the department said.

Investigators believe that Shakirov personally recruited into the pyramid no less than no less than 100 000 people. On his social networks you can still place a pre-order for the book “Access to Ilgiz Shakirov’s Millionaire Club.”

The Economic Crimes Department is currently conducting checks on another 50 people who allegedly lured investors into the pyramid.

In total, the police have received more than 2,600 statements from victims in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk and Primorsky Krai, Tyumen, Samara, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk, Irkutsk regions, as well as from the Republic of Kazakhstan and Hungary. The amounts of damage range from 10,000 to 81 million rubles.

Earlier the police detained and arrested the founder of Finiko, Kirill Doronin. Three of his partners have been placed on an international wanted list – they have managed to leave Russia.

Two criminal cases have been opened against four founders. The first, in December 2020, the Prosecutor’s Office of Tatarstan opened for the illegal attraction of funds totaling at least 80 million rubles.

In July 2021, a criminal case for fraud in a particularly large size was opened. The official damage in this case amounts to more than 250 million rubles.

The real damage, according to independent experts, exceeds $4 billion, and the number of victims is not less than 850,000 people.
