
Khakassia resident defrauded of 500,000 rubles in cryptocurrency-earnings scheme
A resident of Chernogorsk fell victim to criminals who promised earnings from cryptocurrency trading. This is reported by Khakassia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In December the victim saw an online advertisement for additional earnings allegedly from reselling cryptocurrencies. After that, a ‘financial analyst’ contacted him, who ‘provided bank card numbers and wallet details to which funds were to be transferred’.

The victim made several transfers amounting to more than 500,000 rubles. After he was asked to make one more transfer, supposedly for insurance to enable the withdrawal of funds, he realised that he had fallen for a scam, according to the police.

Police opened a criminal case for large-scale fraud.

Earlier in December, criminals duped a Voronezh resident out of 800,000 rubles, offering her a chance to earn money from cryptocurrencies.
