Argentine low-cost carrier Flybondi has launched the Ticket 3.0 campaign, under which it began issuing tickets in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFT).
The airline said this approach offers a more flexible travel experience. Meanwhile, Flybondi could reduce customer-service costs and increase revenues from trading commissions.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with TravelX—a blockchain platform for selling tokenized tickets on the Algorand network. The service allows passengers to change the passenger’s name, transfer, or sell the so-called NFTickets.
\”With this launch, we aim to positively impact the aviation industry through innovation and the application of blockchain,\” said Mauricio Sana, CEO of Flybondi.
Customers can purchase digital tickets directly through the website with fiat, and TravelX will issue the NFT version to them. The tokens are also available for a stablecoin USDC via the Binance Pay payment service.
In December 2022, the Starbucks launched a beta NFT-based loyalty program on the Polygon network.
Subsequently, the music service Spotify began testing a playlist service accessible via NFT wallets.
