Bitmain Expands Antminer S21 Bitcoin Miner Range

At the World Digital Mining Summit in Las Vegas, Bitmain unveiled a new model in its Antminer S21 bitcoin miner series, boasting energy efficiency of up to 12 J/TH.

According to the announced specifications, the S21 XP air-cooled version generates a hash rate of 270 TH/s with a power consumption of 3645 W and energy usage of 13.5 J/TH.

The S21 XP Hyd model with hydro-cooling offers 473 TH/s, 5976 W, and 12 J/TH respectively.

These devices are available for pre-order with individual discounts at $21.5 per TH/s. After the promotion, the price will rise to $30.6 per TH/s. Deliveries are expected in Q4 2024 and early the following year.

According to Hashrate Index, current market prices for miners with energy efficiency of at least 25 J/TH are $12.41 per TH/s.

The first model in the Antminer S21 series was introduced by the manufacturer in August 2023. The device provides a hash rate of 270 TH/s with energy usage of 17.5 J/TH. In February, the miner won the “Technological Breakthrough of the Year” award at Bitdeer Jihan Wu’s inaugural Mining Awards 2023.

In March, the company founded by Bitmain’s former co-founder successfully tested its own 4-nm chip for bitcoin mining, SEAL0, with a performance of 18.1 J/TH. The SEALMINER A1 miner based on it is expected to enter mass production in Q3 of the year.

According to the presented roadmap, Bitdeer plans to introduce the SEAL02 chip with an energy efficiency of 14 J/TH during the same period, and by the end of the year, the SEAL03, which is expected to achieve 10 J/TH.

In May, Canaan unveiled a new line of bitcoin miners. The Avalon A1566 device offers 185 TH/s with energy usage of 18.5 J/TH.
