Core Scientific to acquire 112,800 Bitcoin miners from Bitmain

US-based blockchain-hosting provider Core Scientific announced that it had reached an agreement with the Chinese mining-equipment maker Bitmain to purchase 112,800 Bitcoin miners.

The batch will consist of ASIC miners of the Antminer S19, S19 Pro, S19J and S19J Pro models.

According to the statement, after delivery of the purchased devices Core Scientific will more than double its fleet, and the company’s hash rate will reach 18.1 EH/s.

«Thanks to our previous contract to purchase from Bitmain in December 2020, we became the largest provider of blockchain-hosting infrastructure in North America, with 76,024 devices in the fleet. Four months later we more than doubled the fleet and intend to continue expanding mining operations in 2021,» said Kevin Turner, President and CEO of Core Scientific.

He noted that the company is 100% carbon neutral, thanks to energy from renewable sources.

Core Scientific is the sole authorized Bitmain service center in North America.
