Media: Twitter to test Bitcoin tips for content creators
Twitter tests Bitcoin tips via Tip Jar.
The social network Twitter will test the ability to send donations in the first cryptocurrency to content creators via the Tip Jar feature. MacRumors reports.
Twitter introduced Tip Jar in May 2021. The feature allows users to send what are effectively tips as a form of appreciation. Initially, Tip Jar supported payments through Bandcamp, Cash App, Patreon, PayPal and Venmo.
Bitcoin is not yet available as a selectable option in the beta, but the possibility has been spotted in the code.
According to a screenshot by developer Alessandro Paluzzi, payments via Tip Jar would require an account in the Strike app built on Lightning Network.
