Ripple Co-Founder Donates $1 Million to Kamala Harris’s Presidential Campaign
Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen contributed $1 million in XRP to a political action committee (PAC) supporting Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
According to data from the U.S. Federal Election Commission, 1,754,815 XRP were transferred to the PAC Future Forward on August 14.
In September, Harris began accepting digital asset donations for her presidential campaign through the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, with Future Forward acting as the intermediary.
The PAC is officially fundraising for the Democratic candidate. As reported by OpenSecrets, the committee has raised over $200 million to date.
Previously, Harris pledged to “encourage” cryptocurrencies, while Republican candidate Donald Trump declared himself the “crypto president” and vowed to make the U.S. the “crypto capital of the world”. However, both candidates avoided the topic of digital assets during debates.
Earlier, experts suggested that a Trump victory in the U.S. presidential election could be a condition for Bitcoin’s rise above $80,000 by the end of the year.
