Robinhood launches beta version of cryptocurrency wallet

Online broker Robinhood has launched a beta-testing program for a cryptocurrency wallet for 1,000 selected customers from the waiting list.

By March, the number of participants will expand to 10,000 users, who had applied earlier.

The company expects testers to validate the core features of the app and provide feedback to shape the final product.

“As part of the beta program, we will refine the send and receive flows, add QR code scanning capabilities, enhanced transaction history, and include block explorer support to provide more information about on-chain transactions,” the blog said.

Testers have a withdrawal limit to external wallets of $2,999 per day, with a cap of 10 transactions. Two-factor authentication is mandatory.

In March 2021, co-founder and CEO Vlad Tenev said the platform plans to add wallet functionality. In May, COO Kristin Brown confirmed the imminent introduction of the ability to withdraw digital assets.

In September, media reported the start of testing of the app, and the company confirmed plans. At that time, Robinhood expected to complete the wallet rollout for all users during 2022.

In July, the online broker went public via an IPO. In the run-up to that event, Tenev called digital assets the foundation of the company’s future development.
