
Saratov traffic police officer admits to mining at work
In Saratov, investigators have completed the investigation into a criminal case against a former police officer accused of exceeding his powers. The Saratov region’s Investigative Department reports.
According to law enforcement, from February to July 2021, a traffic police officer organized cryptocurrency mining in one of the unused premises owned by the police.
The loss from illegally consumed electricity amounted to 231,000 rubles.
The accused pleaded guilty and expressed remorse. The criminal case has been referred to the court.
Earlier, it was reported that, during a search of the premises, inspectors found two ASIC miners, a Wi-Fi router and three power supplies.
