The number of decentralized applications on the Polygon network has surpassed 19,000.

Developers of the Ethereum network’s layer-2 solution Polygon reported on the project’s achievements for the first half of 2022 and outlined plans for the next six months.

According to the report, by July:

• the number of decentralized applications operating on the network reached 19,000;
• the average monthly transactions amounted to 90 million;
• the total number of smart-contract developers surpassed 153,000.

The project paid $2 million in rewards for participation in hackathons and grants via the Gitcoin platform.

In January, the team launched the Polygon Guilds initiative, aimed at helping ecosystem participants interact. Under it, project creators can form thematic groups — guilds.

The project created a free online school, Polygon Academy, and expanded the capabilities of ДАО PolygonDAO.

Among the technological achievements, the team listed the суверенной идентификации system based on zero-knowledge proofs, Polygon ID, a mechanism to reduce blockchain load Avail, solutions Nightfall, Edge, Supernets and zkEVM.

The latter, as a fully Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible scaling technology, will form the basis for products the Polygon team will focus on developing. Among other priorities for the second half of the year, the team named attracting developers to the ecosystem via:

• participation in Ethereum events (ETH Seoul, ETH Mexico, ETH Lisbon, Devcon and others);
• further development of accelerator programs.

In the first half of the year, Polygon added support from the two largest by market capitalization stablecoins Tether (USDT) and Circle (USDC).
