
UFC Champion Francis Ngannou to Take Half of His Purse in Bitcoin
UFC heavyweight world champion Francis Ngannou will receive half of his purse for the bout scheduled on January 23, 2022 in Bitcoin.

The payout will be made through Cash App, Block’s Cash App, the payment service from Block, Jack Dorsey’s company.
The athlete said he wants to make bitcoin ‘more accessible’ to his fans and will give away $300,000 in cryptocurrency. To participate in the giveaway, you must follow Cash App on Twitter and post the hashtag #PaidInBitcoin.
«After extensive study of Bitcoin, I truly believe that it is the future of money», Ngannou said in the promo video.
His bout with Ciryl Gane will headline UFC 270. Under certain circumstances the fight could be Ngannou’s last in the promotion. Earlier the athlete expressed dissatisfaction with his earnings and said that he was no longer willing «to fight for $500,000–$600,000».
Since July 2021, a partner of UFC has been the cryptocurrency platform Crypto.com. In November, the company released the league’s first NFTs.
