Semler Scientific Acquires 581 BTC, Shares Surge by 28%

Semler Scientific, a company specializing in medical technologies, has announced the acquisition of 581 BTC valued at $40 million, according to a press release.

According to company representatives, digital gold is now the “primary treasury reserve asset,” as it is considered a “reliable store of value and an attractive investment.”

“Bitcoin is currently a major asset class with a market value exceeding $1 trillion. We believe it possesses unique characteristics as a rare and finite asset, capable of serving as an adequate hedge against inflation and a safe haven amid global instability,” stated Eric Semler, Chairman of the Board.

He added that the “digital architectural resilience” of the first cryptocurrency makes it preferable to gold, whose market value is approximately ten times greater.

“Moreover, we are encouraged by the growing global adoption and institutionalization of bitcoin. This is evidenced by the January approval of 11 spot exchange-traded funds by the Securities and Exchange Commission. These funds reported net inflows exceeding $13 billion, generated by nearly 1,000 institutions, including global banks, pension funds, endowments, and registered investment advisors. It has been established that more than 10% of all bitcoins are now owned by institutions,” emphasized Semler.

Shares of Semler Scientific, listed on Nasdaq, responded with an increase of over 28%.

In April, MicroStrategy acquired an additional 122 BTC. Its bitcoin reserves reached 214,400 BTC (over $14 billion).

A total of $7.54 billion was allocated for the purchase of crypto assets at an average rate of $35,180 per coin.
