Ethereum price breaks above $2,000 for the first time

Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation, has for the first time breached the $2,000 mark.

Soon after breaking the level, there was a small pullback, but the price nevertheless held the level.

Against the backdrop of Ethereum’s rising price, average on-chain fees rose again.

Average transactional costs for swapping tokens on the non-custodial exchange Uniswap and for depositing on the lending service Compound are $45 and $67 respectively.

Bitcoin price also hit a fresh high, testing the $56,000 level. The market capitalisation of digital gold at the time of writing stands at $1.04 trillion.

Total cryptocurrency market capitalisation reached $1.75 trillion. Bitcoin’s dominance index stands at 59.3% (according to CoinGecko).

As reported in February, Bitcoin’s market capitalisation first reached $1 trillion as the price rose above $53,000.
